Africa Needs More Oral Healthcare.

Oral health is still a big problem in most countries in Africa as stated by experts attending the Kenya Dental Association Scientific Conference. In order to raise awareness of oral health and improve access to dental care, experts at the conference in Nairobi provided new programs and projects. It is reported that the oral health level in Africa still needs more time to improve.

The lack of dentists is another persistent problem which makes it difficult for patients to find proper dental care and health care instruction. Some dentists and volunteer programs are initiating a substantial effort to reduce oral health problems such as gum diseases and tooth decay by increasing people's knowledge about brushing and rinsing the teeth and seeing dentists for regular check-ups.

School children are considered to be the best target of such programs because if young children have  good daily oral hygiene  they are not likely to need more complex and expensive dental treatment in the future. Per the conference attendees, an expected result of these programs will be that children will be capable of providing dental health information and good oral care habits to the next generation of children.
